The puppies are pretty much paper trained. I am amazed at how quickly they seem to be learning.
They are teething and very uncomfortable at the moment - singing the blues.Purple - 2 lb. 13 1/2 oz.
Pink - 2 lb. 15 oz.
Green - 3 lb. 8 oz.
The pups now have all of their teeth except their molars and are much happier than before. They are using the potty area about 90% of the time. They are much more reponsive to motion and noise. They are enjoying their toys and are playing with each other. They also come running when called. Gabby continues to feed them although their teeth much cause some pain. It is important at this age to begin introducing them to strangers. Socialization is very important. Purple - 3 lb. 13.5 oz.
Pink - 3 lb. 12 oz.
Green - 4 lb. 3 oz.
These are such good puppies. By 5 weeks of age they are already using the dog door to go out to go potty. Not only that, but if I don't open up their ex-pen by 7:00 am, thereby allowing them access to the dog door, let me know all about it. My mop is feeling neglected these days, as there has been little cleanup to do. You will notice in the pictures that their tails are up and their ears are part way up. They are interacting much more than before. They are also learning to go up and down stairs. Purple - 4 lb. 9.0 oz.
Pink - 4 lb. 10.0 oz.
Green - 5 lb. 4 oz.
Just when I was about to say that the pups were totally housebroken I just had to clean up two puddles. Sigh! The pups are so much fun to be with now. They have taken on individual personalities and are generally enjoying life. This week they have discovered that they can tear paper apart, and chew a hole in their bedding to pull out the stuffing. I have tried to get them to eat solid food, but so far they much prefer mother's milk. I am hoping that Gabby decides not to feed them any more soon, rather than my making that decision for her. She is a wonderful mother.
Purple - 5 lb. 6.0 oz.
Pink - greater than 5 lb. 8.0 oz.
Green - greater than 5 lb. 8 oz.
My kitchen scale only goes up to 5 lb. 8 oz.
The pups are becoming more confident in their surroundings. This week we have been working on climbing up and down stairs - a big hurdle for a little puppy. Yeah - for the past two nights they have gone to bed at 1:00 am and slept until 7:00 am. Six hours of uninterupted sleep for all of us. Having said that, they still have a pan lined with paper that they can potty in during the night if they have to.
Gabby has finally decided to stop feeding the puppies. That decision was brought about by our cutting back on her food (honestly she was getting fat) thereby causing less milk production on her part. She still wants to play the mother role, without the feeding part. We have lots of company to look at the pups before they head out to their new homes. Great socialization for all concerned.
